Deschamps: No Plans To Leave France After 2022

By | June 9, 2021

Didier Deschamps said he was ready to retain his position as France’s head coach by the expiration date of his contract next year.

Deschamps guided France to a European Championship final and won the World Cup during his nine years in charge of the Les Bleus squad.

He is also the third individual – after Mario Zagallo and Franz Beckenbauer – to ever win a World Cup as a player and coach at a time when he could also make another history if he can lead France to Euro 2020 starting mid -month.

If France can overcome the achievements of the 2016 edition runners -up, Deschamps will be the first individual to win the Euros and the World Cup as a player and coach.

However, it could be his last European Championship with France as his contract expires after the World Cup at the end of 2022.

Deschamps, however, has no plans to leave his post as long as he gains the trust of the French Football Association (FFF).
